During 2020-2021, the global pandemic necessitated an order that resulted in days characterized by routine, tedium, pressure, and monotony. Many found themselves confined to the same room, often the same sofa, with self-care becoming haphazard and the concept of time occasionally overlooked... At the end of this depressive and seemingly hopeless period for humanity, marked by experiences of illness and loss, a collective yearning for renewal and the rediscovery of joy is echoing across various spheres.

CERSAIE (International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings), one of the most significant events shaping the global ceramic coating and bathroom material industry, takes place annually in Bologna, Italy, during the last week of September. This year, the fair in this country, which is also renowned as the fashion center of the world, provided a platform for the shared human aspiration: “I want to live with high energy and pleasure.”

It appears that minimalistic approaches have given way to a surge in movement, patterns, and colors that foster a serene yet vibrant atmosphere—sometimes even embracing the expectation of welcoming a rainbow after the rain. People who have spent extended periods indoors are now seeking patterns and colors inspired by the natural world to incorporate into their living spaces.

Floral prints, birds, charming insects, bees, and large-leaved tree patterns have found their place in various ceramic coating materials and even furniture designs. Notably, a prevalence of blue and green, the two fundamental colors of nature, is observed. Ranging from navy blue to turquoise, we capture the hues of the sky and water, while the palette showcases endless forests and grasslands in every shade of green. And there’s also a burst of colorful flowers.

The yearning is so profound that we experience the freedom, confidence, and serene energies of these two colors even within stone textures, marble patterns, and metal-effect surfaces.

Floral and leaf-printed patterns, crafted to create a wallpaper effect, are presented in myriad options across ceramics and porcelain of various sizes.

For those who prefer color over patterns, a selection of plain pastel greens, blues, turquoises, tiles, and yellow as well as powder hues is available.

The boundless freedom of colors in marble is not surprising. Reflecting the vibrations bestowed by the marvel of nature onto spaces has perhaps never been more enjoyable.

The impact and impressions left on us by CERSAIE 2022 offer insights into what humanity, weary of oppression and chaos, truly desires.

A return to the nature will serve as a healing balm...
